The Chaos Computer Club e. V. (CCC) is Europe's largest association of hackers. For more than forty years we are providing information about technical and societal issues, such as surveillance, privacy, freedom of information, hacktivism, data security, and hacking. As the most influential hacker collective in Europe we organize campaigns, events, lobbying and publications as well as anonymizing services and communication infrastructure. There are many hackerspaces in and around Germany which belong to or share a common bond to the CCC as stated in our hacker ethics.
Criminal complaint against mass surveillance: We won’t back down!
Two years have passed since the first disclosures of internal NSA documents by Edward Snowden pointing out secret service affairs without peer. Two years should be more than enough time for the German Public Prosecutor General of the Federal Court of Justice to acknowledge these findings and start at least a preliminary investigation. To further ignore this affair raises the suspicion of obstruction of justice in official act. We decided to write a further written pleading to remind the Federal Prosecutor General of our complaint against the German Government concerning the complete surveillance of the general public by secret services. more …
Nachruf auf Klaus Brunnstein
Es gibt nicht viele Professoren in der Informatik, die sich in einem Maße gesellschaftlich einbringen und Diskussionen über technische Themen anstoßen und vorantreiben, wie er es sein ganzes Berufsleben und auch nach der Emeritierung getan hat. Klaus Brunnstein ist am 19. Mai 2015 im Alter von 77 Jahren verstorben. more …

Der AK Vorrat Österreich hat sich in den mehr als fünf Jahren seines Bestehens als starke Stimme für Datenschutz und gegen anlaßlose Massenüberwachung etabliert – weit über Österreich hinaus. Seit 2010 kämpft der AK unermüdlich und erfolgreich gegen Instrumente der Massenüberwachung und für starken Datenschutz und die Einhaltung der Menschenrechte im Digitalen. Transparenzgesetz: CCC setzt sich für Veröffentlichungspflicht ein
Das Hamburger Transparenzgesetz soll Vorbild für weitere Transparenzgesetze in deutschen Bundesländern werden, Rheinland-Pfalz macht mit dem ersten Entwurf eines Transparenzgesetzes in einem Flächenland den Anfang.
