The Chaos Computer Club e. V. (CCC) is Europe's largest association of hackers. For more than forty years we are providing information about technical and societal issues, such as surveillance, privacy, freedom of information, hacktivism, data security, and hacking. As the most influential hacker collective in Europe we organize campaigns, events, lobbying and publications as well as anonymizing services and communication infrastructure. There are many hackerspaces in and around Germany which belong to or share a common bond to the CCC as stated in our hacker ethics.
Blinkenlights Stereoscope
After a long break the Blinkenlights Project is coming back to life. Its new screen is the Toronto City Hall with its 960 windows on two curved towers, forming 960 pixels with 16 brightness levels. The installation is named "Blinkenlights Stereoscope" in honor of its double screen. Everyone is invited to interact with it as it illuminates the City Hall from October 4th to October 12th, 2008. Chaos Computer Club reicht Wahlprüfungsbeschwerde in Hessen ein – Aufruf zur Wahlcomputerbeobachtung in Brandenburg
Der Chaos Computer Club (CCC) hat wie angekündigt eine Wahlprüfungsbeschwerde in Hessen eingereicht. Die Beschwerde richtet sich gegen den Einsatz von NEDAP-Wahlcomputern in acht hessischen Gemeinden. Aufgrund der schwerwiegenden Wahlfehler in Hessen, wie etwa der Lagerung der Wahlcomputer bei Parteifunktionären und der mangelnden Einhaltung der Vorschriften zur sicheren Lagerung der Computer, ist nun zu entscheiden, ob die Wahlen in den acht betroffenen Wahlkreisen wiederholt werden müssen. more …

German citizens are receiving letters from their Tax Office containing their new 11-digit tax IDs. Clause 202c of German penal code endangers German IT industry
In a substantial report to the Bundesverfassungsgericht (BVerfG, German constitutional court) the Chaos Computer Club (CCC) has studied the impacts of the so-called "Hacker Paragraph", a change to the penal code.
